If you are in a work group with several other SIMUL8 modellers, consider SIMUL8's concurrent licensing program as an efficient, cost-effective delivery mechanism. A concurrent license allows your group to share a number of SIMUL8 licenses over a network.
How Does It Work?
SIMUL8 Standard or Professional can be installed on any number of PCs that can access the SIMUL8 Standard server licensing controller (installed on the corporation's LAN).
When a user starts SIMUL8 on one of these PCs, it asks the server for permission to run. The server looks at the total number of SIMUL8 licenses currently running. If this is less than the number of licenses owned, then the user's PC is authroized to start SIMUL8. If all available SIMUL8 licenses have been checked out, then the user is asked to wait until a license becomes available.
For users who need to make use of a laptop away from the network there is a process for "logging out" from the server so that the user can make use of one of the licenses while disconnected and traveling.
LAN Version
- Minimum purchase of 5 Standard licenses or 3 Professional
- Price is 1.2 times the price of a single user license x MaxUsers
- Licenses can be accessed from anywhere on corporation's LAN where the client software has been installed (can be installed on any LAN networked PCs)
- Up to MaxUsers can use it at any time
- Automatically self-monitors to ensure compliance to MaxUsers limit
- Additional licenses can be added in single units
- Currently owned single user licenses can be added at time of purchase of the minimum 5 for cost of 0.2 x price of a single user license (does not count toward the minimum)
- All licenses must be for the same products (e.g. Standard or Professional or Standard +OptQuest, etc)
WAN Version
- FlexLM/FlexNet and RLM technology are available for delivery over a wide area network (WAN), providing additional usage features
- Provides reports for license utilization, who is using the licenses, and when you are short of licenses
- Minimum purchase of 5 Standard licenses or 3 Professional
- Up to MaxUsers can use it at any time
- Price is 1.5 times the price of a single user license x MaxUsers
- Licenses can be accessed from any internet enabled computer
- Automatically self-monitors to ensure compliance to MaxUsers limit
- Additional licenses can be added in single units
- Currently owned single users licenses can be added at time of purchase of the minimum 5 for cost of 0.5 x price of a single user license (does not count toward the minimum)
- All licenses must be for same products (e.g. Standard or Professional or Standard +OptQuest, etc)
